So does an award legitimize the actor or just the product of that actor at that particular point in time? Does the Oscar award mean that actor can put that honorific “Academy Award Winner, Brendan Fraser” on any product in the future, or in the past, as in Blast from the Past.

CRITICISM OF AWARD SHOWS
Winning an Oscar award can be seen as a recognition of an actor’s talent and skill in their craft. The Oscars are one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry and winning one is often considered a significant achievement.
However, it’s important to note that the Oscars are not the only measure of an actor’s talent or success. Many talented actors may not have won an Oscar, while others who have won an Oscar may not necessarily be considered the most talented or accomplished actors in the industry. Additionally, the Oscars are subject to various factors such as industry politics, marketing campaigns, and personal biases, which may influence the outcome of the awards. Therefore, while winning an Oscar can be a valuable accolade for an actor, it’s not necessarily a definitive measure of their talent or potential for future success.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE EVERYDAY GUY
Brendan Fraser is a Canadian American actor who has had a long and varied career in film and television. He first gained attention for his performance in the 1992 film “Encino Man” and went on to star in several successful movies throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. One of Fraser’s most notable roles was in “The Mummy” franchise, where he played adventurer Rick O’Connell. The first film in the franchise was released in 1999 and was a box office success, leading to two sequels. Fraser also starred in other popular films such as “George of the Jungle,” “Bedazzled,” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”
In addition to his film work, Fraser has also appeared in several television shows over the years, including “Scrubs” and “Texas Rising.” He has also done voice work for animated films and television shows, such as “The Nut Job” and “The Fairly OddParents.”
In recent years, Fraser’s career has slowed down somewhat, and he has not appeared in as many high-profile projects as he did earlier in his career. However, he has continued to work in the entertainment industry, with recent credits including the TV series “Doom Patrol” and the film “No Sudden Move.”
OSCAR FINALLY RECOGNIZED THE GENIUS
Overall, Brendan Fraser has had a successful career in film and television, with several iconic roles and memorable performances. Despite some ups and downs in his career, he remains a beloved actor and continues to be a presence in the entertainment industry. But all that changed in the spring of 2021, when Brendan Fraser played the lead role in “The Whale,” directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film is based on a play by Samuel D. Hunter and tells the story of a reclusive man named Charlie (played by Fraser) who is morbidly obese and has isolated himself from the world. It went on to the obvious Oscar win that has prompted this article.
SO THE MUMMY AND BLAST FROM THE PAST ARE OSCAR WORTHY TOO?
Tom Hanks built up his career like a boxer fighting tomato can fighters, by starring in a bad TV movie about Dungeons and Dragons addiction and other characters throughout the 80’s that would eventually lead to his breakout win in 1994 with “Philadelphia” and then a year later “Forrest Gump.” I turned the lens back on my favorite Tom Hanks films, “Bachelor Party” and “The Burbs.” As I rewatched them I said out loud “Damn, Tom Hanks best performance could be Bachelor Party.” And then I proceeded to watch “the Burbs” almost ritually every summer for the past 25 years and knew Tom Hanks was legit and I’m watching an Oscar worthy film.
Similarly, this will now clear a path for me to consider how significant the film “the Mummy” was. Alongside academy award winner Rachel Weisz, the two pay homage to the Universal Studios movie monsters from the golden age of cinema and deliver certainly Oscar level acting to make a TIMELESS FILM. And can we also throw in the greatness of his comedy talents and the subtle artisanal skills he displayed in the film “Blast from the Past.” Acting alongside heavyweights like Christopher Walken and Alicia Silverstone, he more than handles his own. And even more impressive is how the film will be a time capsule to the late 90’s for generations to come as they research who Best Actor award winner Brendan Fraser was and what other films could they find him in.
